This is the first season I've carried a 410. Just a little 410 single shot - got tired of carrying a bigger gun. I"ve had not trouble cleanly killing rabbits out to 40. Shooting full choke 3" #5's. Based on my experience, it is plenty of gun for a bunny.

Nothing beats the Mossberg 12ga pump. use nothing larger than 7shot high brass. and no matter where the bunnie is. Just point and shoot!!!! plus for those suckers moving at 100mph its nice to be able to get the second, 3rd, or 4th shot off!!! lol

Briarhoppers you get my vote. I feel the same way, Dont like heavy guns although I would prefer modified choke over a full. And experience tells me #5 shot so Im not picking all them tiny little # 8's out of the meat. Image

I still use the old Stevens 20 ga single shot gun I used when I was a kid and first started hunting rabbits with beagles. 2 3/4 shells with #4 shot.

20 guage, improved cyclinder choke tube, with #6 shot.
The modified choke tore the rabbits up to much.

I only use the 20 guage when I am not using my pellet rifle.
