Hopefully the pups will turn out somewhere close to the sire and dam. But, ya never know. You might have a really tall hound or really small hound in the pedigree somewhere and it just might show up.

Curious,

Don't know if this will help you or not, but here's the growth cycle on one of my 15" males.

7 Months Old - 13 1/4"

9 months Old - 14 1/4"

11 months Old 15"

On the norm he grew 3/4 to 1" every two months. His dam is 12 1/2" and his sire is 15". Consequently he was the runt of the litter.

We kept three female pups out of a litter. One pup is 14 3/4, one is 14 1/4 and one is 14. These pups are 17 months old now and don't know if they are done growing or not.

I have 2 males neither one stopped growing until they were 1 1/2 years. The one male is 17inches....his Dam is 14 1/2 and his sire was 15 inch....I have a female from the same breeding just different litter and she stopped growing at 1 year at 13 inches. In both litters there was one female that ended up 13 inch and one male that ended up 17 inch , the rest of the pups all stopped growing at 14 and 15 inch.

I have found that tightlly line breed or inbreed dogs are smaller than outcrossed dogs. Has anyone else noticed this.

Also dog food today is so much better than is was years ago. Feeding that good food I think affects a dogs size too.

I have seen dogs at 6 months old be done growing and I have seen growth spurts at 10 month old.

Inbred will get smaller and smaller, if you keep breeding them this way. It seems to work that way for most animals, chickens, horses, and even humans. Read up on amish, and you will find this to be true.
