good and bad traits
I have never owned any thing but grade dogs, and am now looking into getting registered dogs. i have yet to decide on a line of dogs to get. so i am looking for some help here guys, i want to know what line of dogs you keep and why. if there are characteristics that the line has in general, GOOD or BAD i would like to hear what you have to say. thanks

Re: good and bad traits
It would be all in what you like. If your grade hounds are fast, medium, or super fast? There are lots of guys on here who know a lot about hounds!
I, personally, did the same thing as you a few years back and went to registered hounds. I researched what I wanted as a gunhunter only and went out and
got it. I like hard hunt, upper medium speed and good line control. I want a dog to run as hard as the conditions allow while running a relatively tight line.
I found a couple lines that fit what I was looking for and have had real good success to this point with them, they are heavy Dingus Macrae, Ranger Dan, and
I am also going to incorporate some Northway as well. These lines, from what I have seen, exhibit the traits I wanted. They are not perfect, as are no lines,
but for me they suit my purpose well. I would strongly suggest going to view some hounds run to see if they fit your style. Good luck. You will find a bunch of
guys on here very willing to show you what they got!
