any body use one of these i'm thinking about buying one. it has choke tubes and you can buy a vent rib for it.

Hey Chris, just sold my Encore, loved it, but I could hit them bunnies just as good with that as any other shotgun. Just couldn't justify the money spent on something that was gonna sit around in the gun cabinet 8 months out of the year. So I went and got a short 1187 12 banger, can use that on lots of different critters. The only thing I miss is carrying that little encore, you hardly knew you had it over your shoulder. I thought the Encore would be a challenge, but still killed 20 with two boxes of shells last year. Now I realize it is a simple matter of TO SHOOT-or NOT to shoot. I love to shoot them but then it sucks because I just ended a perfectly good chase lol! Good luck with the new gun if you get it. Get ahold of me sometime we gotta run some hounds. Take care.

I've also debated on getting a T/C .410/.45 cal and I too asked myself if I could justify getting a pistol to use just for the 6 months out of the year or so our season runs here in WI and MI then I got to thinking!!!

my Rifle- 2 weeks out of the year
my four wheeler- 4 months out of the year
certain hunting atire- normally a month or two
fishing equipment- havent left the shelf in 4 years

Now I asked myself how often do I get the dogs out? I at least try to get them out a minimum of once a week sometimes 4 days a week, depending on the season.

I guess I'm in the market for a T/C It would be nice having a extra hand in the woods. Just holster up the pistol and go!!! Also looking for a pair of Iverson Snowshoes.

Buschbound, I dont mean to change the subject here but you mentioned you were looking for a pair of Iverson's - have you looked at the new aluminum framed shoes such as Tubb's, Yukon Charlies, etc.? I have been a die hard fan of Iverson until last winter when I purchased a pair of Tubb's these are the best thing going right now in my opinion.

i had the aluminum framed atlas shoes and they were awesome when the snow was wet and it packed good but earlier in the season when there is no bottom a big boy like myself just sinks to the bottom. I've tried the longer Iversons with the point on both ends and they we alot better for me in deep snow. I'm yet to find a shoe that fits me for all conditions. I'm gonna start a new thread for this post. on snowshoes...

If you don't want to spend the money on a T/C then I would get a Super comanche II. I bought one for about $150 and just use it for rabbit hunting. I have taken it out several times this year and love it. It beats carrying that shotgun around all day. I haven't got to shoot at any rabbits yet (they always run in front of my other buddies) but I will sometime this year. I have even thought about taking it out during doe season and trying to take me a doe with the 45LC.

If the Mangnum Research is still around a $1000.00 I think I would go with the T/C Encore with the 15" barrel and for that kind of money you could buy a rifle barrel or two for it also... The Magnum Research is a heavy gun and the only advantage you might see over the T/C is the extra shots it will hold. If you are good with a pistol anyway you will only need one shot... I was debating the same things 3 years ago and chose to get the T/C and don't regret it one bit..

Is the Super Comanche II the reasonably priced single shot made by Stoeger or somebody like that?I also dont want to spend a lot of money on a Contender or Encore,but would like to try gunning rabbits with a .410 pistol.Anyway I know somebody makes a reasonably priced single .410 pistol any info on it and where to buy it would be appreciated.Thanks--Vic

I have been using the Commanche for 4 years now and LOVE it.
It has never failed , it has 2 safetys , it keeps my hands free and it is light to cary, It shoots approx. an 18" to 24" patern at 25 yds. It can shoot 45 LC but if you are going to shoot them over 25 ft. use rocks because they are more accurate. It is a great gun for the price. It also beat over $500 for a encore.

Thanks for the reply,I got on their website and found the list of dealers for Ohio and a local gun shop ordered me one and had it for me the next day.Yesterday myself and three friends patterned at 20 yrds.and got about the same results as you stated.Today I am going to use it for the first time in the field and I am looking forward to using it.Also my three buddies liked it so well that they are all three getting one.Thanks again,Vic

Vic, I traded a 22 semi rifle for a 22 pistol, to carry and just shot around the young dogs. I have had opertunities to shoot rabbits with it but just couldn't. Them things were running so good didn't have the heart to shoot them.

I shot my first rabbit with mine last friday.I shot at three total for the day and got one.I missed him on the previous go around but stopped him cleanly @ about 20 yrds.on the next.I have many,many maybe too many fine shotguns of all gauges,and now that I am carrying the pistol,I no longer want to use them.It sure is nice having those hands free when handleing dogs.It was more exciting harvesting that rabbit with the pistol than shooting a deer anymore--------Vic
