Does anyone know if there are any direct desendants from Spur still around. I figure they would be fairly old. Curious about some good tight bred males? Not even sure when Spur died? Have his blood in my kennel and would like to potentially draw it in again.

This maybe a good question to put on the Better Beagling post as well .there are alot of guys who run this strain of dogs on that board... I personally don't know if there is any out there. I'd emagine that Paul Kormarmy s/p from NY. would have it in his kennel.

I have a female with spur as her grandfather and I might be breeding her but im not to sure. She is like 11 so im kinda not sure. If I do Im sure ill post it on here. She would be bred with a Ranger dan with some brankos in it and Dingus macrae. Just depends on how soon you want one. But im sure Paul Komorny should have some in his kennel in NY.

You might want to give Dexter Reffett (in KY) a call,he has linebreed the Spur hounds for years. At this time he has Northway Slim Jim at his house at Stud.In july i will have a litter due that are heavy Spur breed. If interested in a pup,you can e-mail me.
If he's still alive but probably 12 or 13 yrs old or older FC Milt's Woodstock Rockstar is maybe 1 of the last dogs directly out of Spur around.

I have a female out of Branko's Lumberjack, Northway Ninja is her grandsire on the dam's side. This dog is a hunting fool, she comes out of the truck hunting and until lately, I had to stimulate her with a remote collar to get her out of the woods (now that's being politically correct). She has a strong chop mouth and a very good nose. She is built really well and is mostly black with tan trim and white socks. What I like most about her is, she's out of Lumberjack but doesn't look like a Branko dog. She has one fault, she's not a very fast dog. No, she's not slow but anyone that knows me, knows that I like a front runner. Lynn, tell me about Slim Jim.
Have you seen him run. What's Slim's speed like on track, compared to Reffetts KY Mtn Hussler?

The guys on the better beagling board says Slim swings, is fast, loves the front... In other words, he rough. Man, I'm starting to drool, I think I'm in love with a dog! If he's all that I may breed to him. How long will Dexter have him in KY?

I have seen him but i have not seen him run.He is a very nice looking hound,Nice long legs, good length in the back, looks like a RACE horse.I have heard the same things about his running style.Dexter could tell you more about watching him run, I hear he has no trouble staying in front once he gets it LOL.I'm not real sure about how long he'll be at Reffett's,i imagine he'll keep him as long as people are using him.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a female dog come into season? I would love to have some linebred Spur in the kennel.

I talked to a guy who was field marshall at the Kentucky large pack last Dec. and said out of 19 dogs Slim Jim and Billy Jack ran 18 and 19 when the rabbit was up and running but to their credit when there was a lost those 2 dogs came right on through the pack and kept it going.
Unless your the lead dog the view never changes
