Where is this kennel located? Are these hounds hard hunters?. Are there any good stud dogs out there out of this kennel? If so where are they located?. Thanks,
Danny

Go to the espo board and ask the question. The Kennel is located in Eastern Virginia close to the North Carolina line.
Flat Creeks have a reputation for great hunt/jump.

Danny,,,, Z.T. Wells owns the Flat Creek Kennel down in Virginia. He has a young man who runs the kennel with him and trials all of ZT's dogs by the name of Phillip Kallam..They have FC Flat Creek Leroy at stud. This dog took 2nd at the AKC Nationals back in the spring behind the Rowdy dog who won the year before last also.. He is mostly Shake bred with all the best dogs of that line in him.. FC Leroy is off FC Flat Creek Buster x FC Yelverton's Darnit, she is off FC Red River Bruce to a daughter of FC Wright's Shake littermate brother..His stud Fee is $250 with a current Neg Brucellosis Test taken within 3 weeks...Send me your email and I will forward Phillips Number to you..

Cottontail got it right, ZT Wells in Southern VA owns the kennels. Phillip works for him, I've spoken w/ him before, seems like a real nice guy.

Thanks for the answers guys. someone told me that the dogs from this kennel hunt hard. But my primary question is does this breeding have the hunt to pound the briars and the brush or do they just have good search. I am looking for that briar pounding hunt. Thanks,
Danny

Got a 9 yr old male here sired by FC Flat Creek Blake, dog is a jump-dog deluxe,, if you walk up to a Multi Flora Briar thickets,,, he is going right to the middle. These dogs have really good noses also..Leroy has all the best of the Flat Creek Bloodline and some of the best jump-dogs ever seen period...Take a bitch to him that has incredible hunt and that comes from a family of Hunt/Jump like Leroy and you should get some briar busters,, better yet find someone who has a gyp with some Shake Blood up close and go breed to him, if they don't trial they will be rabbit dogs..

I saw this post on another board and thought if was applicable.
Flat Creek Jeter is by Flat Creek Leroy
this year my home club here in NC Bladen B/C decided to go the MAB route as well as some other southern clubs as it's filled that they promote hounds that are good hunting dogs that can stay in a check area before reaching out.Generally these hounds run M-MF.I had the priviledge to watch Jeter run @ Java Village NY on hare against some NYHA hounds and he more than held his own by winning that trial that day.He really impressed me at our SPO-CT trial here in NC yesterday as well as a young pup owned by Gerald Waters that took second. There were 53 little males congrats to Eddie Gooche NC and Mark Aubert NY his owners. He has placed AND won from the Gulf Coast , NY,to Maine this year on cottontail and hare. You can't ask much more out of a hound than that.I like to extend congrats also to his handler Phillip Kallem(spelling) on taking home 2 blues in both male classes. These were earned I know that for a fact.I would recommend this hound to anyone wanting to do an experimental cross with a 100% ct bred hound x hare bred hound. He is athletic with a big nose ,good loud mouth, can foot up ,lots of hunt and good check work with show dog looks standing 13 inshes tall.

Folks,
I have a male that goes back to Flat Creek Blake and he is a super hard hunter, he has tons of hunt and jump and the brains to go with it. I would like to have a kennel full just like him. I have seen a few other dogs out of the Flat Creek bloodline and they were all good. Can't go wrong breeding them.

I've always been interested in this line. There isn't any around me that I know of. If anyone have any pics of some Flat Creek bred dogs...please post them. I'd like to see them
Thank You, Lance McCarthy

almost all of my hounds go back to Blake/shake through the willow run lines..I am however, thinking of something directly out of either Leroy or Jeter. I watched Jeter finish 3rd at my clubs trial in Nov. and I marshalled the class...Very nice hound!

You guys won't go wrong going with this line or crossing out to it. They produce and their offspring produce..This 9 year old off FC Blake was only bred for the 1st time 9 months ago and those pups look great. Shame this dog was kenneled with FC Reeder Run Asa and 3 other males. This guy only hunted and trialed and finally sold him because he slowed down for his pack..I am going to breed another gyp to him and one to Leroy,,,,

What size are these dogs typically and are they ubgf speed? Are there any up here closer to Ky. Do they have enough aggression about them to push for the front or are they "slot up me too ers"? Aren't they mostly black and tans or at least dark tri colored with a lot of tan.

I am sure there are both styles in this breeding, really need to know about the bitch that was bred to them. Now just abot anything that ZT,Phillip.Eddie Gooch Trial are going to be strong front end dogs that can move a rabbit..They Trial from the nastiest briars in the world in Florida "If you think you have Briars go to a Florida Trial where they are ALWAYS GREEN and an inch long" all the way up to Mass..The key is the bitch and and her bloodline, you typically will get the hunt and nose from the Flat Creek dogs..
