Bloodline/Pedigree Question

...on the ancestry of your new hound? This is your forum. Post your question and others will fill in the blanks for you. This is also a good forum for asking about particular hounds and bloodlines (past or present) when considering a breeding or purchase, or just breeding questions in general.

Bloodline/Pedigree Question

Post by VA BEAGLER »

I asked this question in the "Just talkin Dawgs" Forum and they said I should have posted here. Anyway I was wondering what the board could tell me about these bloodlines:

2yr Male 13" Tri (18tot FC's in 9gen pedigree)
FC Lucy Van Little Man
FC Del Ray Stubby
FC Fast Delivery Little Harvey
FC Fast Delivery Scott
FC Eller's Outlaw G-I Linesman

4mo Female 11" tri (20 tot FC's & CHB's in 10gen pedigree)
FC B & W's Wright Line Brownie
FC B & W's Wright Line Jesse
FC CHB Rob's Diamond II
FC Smith's Buzz Saw
FC Bryson's Swamp Creek Buzz Boy

I'm new here and was looking to see if any of these bloodlines were of good quality for medium speed dogs. I have two Medium speed dogs with these members plus several more FC's and CHB's in there pedigree.

The lines you have listed are mostly Med Speed dogs with tight line controll. Be careful and insure what you want is as close up in the line as you can get. If somebody tells you that they have Robs Diamond two hounds and he is 4 generations back you may not be getting what you wanted unless there was good line-breeding used.

The little man stuff from NC hunts hard. Red Coleman has some nice Little Man bitches if you like that speed.

I find here on the Eastern side of Virginia, where the land is flat and open I like the Medium speed of a dog. They hunt well and push the rabbit a little slower so either you get a better shot of a slow moving rabbit or you get longer hunts, which allows me to enjoy the day longer. FC Rob's Diamond II appears on my female's fifth generation then his son FC B&W Wright line Brownie is her Fourth generation, along with FC Bryson Swamp Creek Buzz Boy & FC Finger's Tennessee Jug.

The dogs you have listed are bred to run U.B.G.F. trials. That is only the style.I owned a dog in late 80's to early 90's that finished AKC FC. in that type dog. His name was FC. Garr Hill Stinger.
Thanks
Hank
