Bill Stygles from Vermont owns Beaver Pond Kennels. Bill is a dairy farmer and due to this can't get to many trials but has friends occasionally handle his dogs for him. Bill is a great judge of beagle talent and has produced some great ones over the years. He doesn't have a distinct bloodline but has a knack for making crosses that work. He did use a lot of the Mountaineer line and many other good dogs from his area. I have a 10 year old bitch named Beaver Pond Georgie Girl who has been a consistent producer of good gun dogs for me and they'd take some ribbons along the way too. Bill has never promoted his hounds but beaglers in the know have sought him out with good results. Bill always tried to produce hounds that met AKC standards and has had good luck doing so.

As Steve said Bill has a knack for bring out the best in a pup. Right now his hot one is Beaver Pond Nic . Beaver Pond Bush was a pup that Bill picked up. Bush is a good solid hound , but not real fast. Bill has not breed any litters in the past few years. Beaver pond Beaver was suppose to be a real tough hound, hunt forever. Bill sold Beaver to Roy Rice in Michigan if I am not mistaken. Bill could not catch him when it was time to go home, as I said he would run forever. He produced several FC. Bill does have a blood line that he has developed over the Yrs. He started with the blood lines of IFC Champlain Bucky , FC Mountaineer Sonny , Puddle Doc Speckles. IFC Perkins Luther shows up quite a few times in Bill's bloodlines. Perkins was a FC Mountaineer Sonny and Puddle Doc Speckles Cross. Sonny & Speckles Produced about 8 FC in 2 litters, some being IFC. This cross was made by Frank Rooney. Beaver Pond Vance was breed by Joey Styles. Vance was out of Beaver Pond Peggy , and IFC Wingates Brandon. Peggy was out of, IFC Maple Hill Blacky and Beaver Pond Pixie, You will find Vance in the pedigree of many of todays top snow hounds , IFC Beaver Pond Branko, was out of Vance. Beaver Pond Danny is out of Vance, and is an excellent Snow hound. he is now 11 . IFC Beaver Pond Princes, one of the best 13" bitch I have ever seen. She could do it all. Excellent on snow. Doyland's Justice has Vance in his pedigree. Vance is even in the pedigree of Speedy Sport. Joey Bill's son has been the one behind the breeding program for Beaver Pond Kennel for the past few years. Matter of fact Joey owned Vance, Princes and Danny. Joey now breeds mostly yellow and white hounds. He mixes his hounds with Satsuma bloodlines. Sorry for the book . If you would like any further info e-mail me. Bill and Joey live just up the road from me.

No problem with the book I would like to know more about this line like I said I got a male from Jason Prater that has a ton of Beaver Pond blood I was wanting to know all I can about this line. I love the pup he never brings his nose from the ground the only falt I see is that he is a little slow but I think when he gets to his full size of about 15" that should change. I'm typing this from work and I don't have his ped in front of me but alot of those names ring a bell as being on his ped.

If you don't mind e-mail me any and all information on this line of hounds. Onlce again thanks for the info guys.

Beaver Pond Beaver

Post by Boomerx »

To demonstrate the Beaver Pond hounds toughness; David Reid from Vermont brought Beaver Pond Beaver to a trial at Frontier Quebec. I took my FTCH McBride's Fly On Snowflake. Before the trial we were laughing at Beaver because he was as wide as he was long. He had to weigh 40 lbs. David told us he hadn't been out of the kennel since deer season (Nov.) and this was the following Apr. (5 months). It was a two hound race all day, Beaver and my Snowflake. I laughed the first hour when we saw them cross the path several times with Beaver in the lead and dead on the line, Snowflake second. I said "I'm sure glad he's that fat, he won't last the next hour.". Well, the next hour came and went with Beaver still in the lead every time. When 3 hours was up and they didn't call it a trial I was happy, cause I figured for sure Beaver couldn't stand this gruelling pace much longer (but the smile had gone from my face). They picked them up at 5 hours and Beaver was still in first place, and Snowflake got second. Appearances were certainly deceiving in this case.

fred, hope you don't mind but i have the ped. in front of me. i will post some of the dogs in the ped. to help with any new information we can find out. i am very interested in hearing these stories also.

the puppy is out of shadycreek kodiak jack x gridiron two - minute warning (minnie). minnie is out of teegardins dancin sadie x lake ogemaw casey. sadie goes back to shoreacres pond beaver x shoreacres susie. some other noteables in the ped. are branko's jack of all trades, townline's johnny paycheck top and bottom. east coast trimmer top and bottom. snow run bobby donna top and bottom, dom's dougie top and bottom. hope this helps anyone who may have seen these dogs run or heard stories can give some feedback.

fred, i wouldn't worry about the speed to much. if anything i think these pups will have to much speed at times. however, i am confident that you will have a heck of a rabbit dog. good luck!! jason

Both of the pups have Beaver Pond Beaver in the 4th generation back.

Buford is starting to keep up Ruby now, but last night I almost lost it when he decided to jump in the fish pond in the back yard to catch Ruby. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. He just ran straight at it and jumped right in swam to the other side got out and continued the chase. O' and Ruby found out the the neighbors cat can't out run her it has to go up a tree to get away.

By the way how did Toni do?

fred, toni won and got qualified for the world hunt. it was a great trip to n.c... very beautiful country. i wish i could see a video of this pond jumping episode. sounds like beauford has no fear! i am heading to indiana this weekend to the ukc eliminator hunt. thetre will probably be around 150-200 dogs. its going to take a tough dog to get toni out of it, but thats half the fun watching other peoples dogs run and measuring up theirs against yours. talk to ya later, and hope the pups continue to impress.
