Remington model 700 .243 help

Post by rabbit chaser »

Fellas here in iowa we can only use rifles for coyotes so I hadn't used mine for about 14 yrs. Well I am gettin into coyote hunting (to protect my rabbits :D ) and pulled it out to get it sighted in again. Can anyone tell me how in the heck I can get the bolt out of it to clean it after shooting it. All my other small caliber rifles you just pull the bolt back, pull the trigger and it slides right out but not with this one. Can anyone tell me what in the heck I'm doing wrong and what I need to do to get the bolt out?. Thanks in advance.

On the 700 bring the bolt to the rear, Now on the underside you will see a small metal square piece just forward of the trigger but inside the trigger gaurd. Press upward on that and remove the bolt to the rear.
