Sundown Beagles

Post by high ridge joe »

I have seen the success of the Sundown bloodline...and...thus have become interested in them....I havent run in a UKC event..but I may in the future..Can someone tell me if this line of hounds are able to be AKC registered?
Would also like to know more about the hounds themselves.

thanks

The Sundown beagles that I am familiar with are very very good hounds.I am a member of the Coshocton co. Beagle Club and know Dave and Don McVay who own and operate Sundown Kennels out of Fresno Oh.There is often a lot of Mk V's Ace In The Hole bred into their hounds as that is the reason that GRHBCH GRCH Sundown Triple Threat got his name he has three crosses of Ace in him. Also the McVays breed for the total package and most of their hounds have gorgeous confirmation. As far as running style their hounds like the front but seem to have good control also.If you go to the UKC website message board they are on there often as they mainly compete UKC you can probably talk to them directly. Also keep in mind the the Don McVay Sr.Memorial hunt that they will be having @ the Coshocton Co.beagle club @ Shoemaker farms. This is a BIG,BIG event with MANY,MANY big time prizes to be given away too many to list on here(go to UKC website message board to view list). This event is an elimanation style hunting beagle style or hounds and hunter where the handler calls or scores his or her own hound. It will be taking place on Saturday, August 23 and entries close @ 6:30 AM.It would be a good way to see many Sundown Hounds not only the McVays but other satisfied peoples as well.-------------------------------------------------------Hope this helps Vic
