Mississippi Homer bred stuff....

Post by NorWester »

I hear of a lot of the UP Michigan boys running this blood and that it does well in winter. Is that typical of this bloodline? Do a lot of them tend to "open early" when the conditions are ideal? Anyone out there have anything off the "Dan" dog that show his traits?

To answer your question.

I have judged and ran with quite a few of the michigan "Mississippi" hounds. Yes, Mississippi Dan had a tremendous nose.
Dan was the only one that i knew of that had a -20 degree nose.

Search the board for "Matt Duby" I think he has some Dan pups right now and would know more about Dan's offspring.

Also Rob Fetting has an excellent son of Dan's called "Danny Boy".
Try a www search for "Fetting Beagles"

good luck,
andy

I've spoken with Terry a little. I guess Im just trying to figure it out if a dog like Mississppi Dan was a fluke or not. Lone Pine, have you used any of that blood to cross with your Rambo stuff? While I'm thinking of it, has Rambo produced anything like himself?

Yes, i crossed into Terry's line once.

I bred to an inbred Homer male named Legue's Southern Buck.
Buck was out of Homer and Homer's daughter Sissy.
The cross produced a RCh named Legue's Scamper.
Danny King now owns Scamper.

Now i have bred back to Scamper and Scamper's sister and have gotten good nose, search, line and check.

I feel the cross added nicely to what i already had.

I'll PM you for more info. :)
