Looking for Background on Sangamon, Indian Hills, Birch Lake

Looking for Background on Sangamon, Indian Hills, Birch Lake

Post by sallie_scott »

I have recently gotten back into rabbit hunting and beagles. I have been rabbit hunting for years but usually just got what was cheap and normally wasn't registered. I recently got 2 new pups and looked for good bloodline. I was told the 2 I got have great bloodline and was just wondering what everyone else thought.

1st pup has these names on her pedigree

LP GR B CH, LP GR R CH J Kelvers Black Snake Mac
LP GR R CH Sangamon Red Rock
HOF REP Sangamon Ridge Rocket
LP GR R CH Sangamon Ridge Gracey

99% of her pedigree is Sangamon Image

2nd Pup has these names on his pedigree

FC Wright's Shake
FC Flat Creek Blake
FC M and W' Littleblondie
FC Misty Mountain BB
FC Misty Moutain Brewster
FC Misty Mountain Kristi
Indian Hills Rowdy
Indian Hills Majer
FC Tuscarora Danny Boy
FC Salt River Lilly
Tree Shaker Tessie
FC Flat Creek Joshua
Tree Shaker Clair
FC Bunny Runner Mike
FC Birch Lake Drummer
FC Birch Lake Texas T
FC Birch Lake Beauty
FC Halls Shadyside Boss Hogg
FC North Bend Billy
Ramsey's Hustling Billy
Ramsey's Queenie II
Ramsey's Sage
Ramsey's Yellow Creek Joe

If anyone knows any of these names and can give me some info or pics I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to talk about these dogs ancestors.

thanks so much[/img]

Look like good one's to me, should make good hounds.
Hope you don't take this wrong way, but shouldn't you have asked this question before you purchased the pups, not after ?

I knew they were good bloodlines. I just wanted to know if anyone else has these bloodlines and what they thought of them, like are they mouthy, weither they good line control, if they start early or late and stuff like that. I also wanted some more info on them and pics of ancestor. I always put a book together of all info and pictures I find on the back ground of my dogs and was wanting to get started on that. I asked a lot of questions before I bought them, and they came highly recommended.

Sallie, contact Jim Hughes and he will tell you what you want to know on the Sangamon breeding. Gracey is out of Sangamon Ridge Rocket and Sangamon Ridge Lassie. We have a female, who is a grandughter to Bernard, I really like her.
To old to cut the mustard, you can always run beagles

Wow is that strange. That top pup looks just like one of mine. And I don't see any common ancestory in the dogs he listed.

The Black Snake Mac dog goes back to Crain's Hickory Hill Kennel. The Sangamon Ridge dogs goes back to Bredemier's kennel, Barefoot King Patch, Blaze Patch.

This is the story that I've been told. Years ago, Ron Eades borrowed a bitch from Merle Crain that was a daughter of his Dual Grand Champion and World Bench Champion HH Booger Red. Eades supposedly bred this bitch to Bredemier's Barefoot King Patch. Thus, is where Sangamon's Ridge red dogs. Kelver's Black Snake Mac goes back to a bitch trialed by Tom Langhorst and Fred Bach named Black Snake. They bought her from Merle Crain. They had a registration problem and single registered the dog in their name. This dog was bred to a Sangamon Ridge dog and produced Black Snake Mac. This is only what I've been told as the story goes. These dogs were not AKC registered with the exception being Barefoot King Patch.
