Lix-it Automatic waterer

Has or does anyone use the water nipple that hooks up to water supply at your kennel to do away with buckets. If so, what are the pros and cons of it? And would you recomend anyone else to use it?
Works great in the summer but in the winter I have to disconnect as they will freeze.
