The crate in the feed room is 30"X30", it has 3 sides 2' tall w/ a scrape board accross the front 6" tall. The pigrail 2"X2" brought it down to 26"X26". The heat lamp hung secured to the wall by a shelf bracket @ 30".

I made mine out of wood. I copied the dimentions off of Seneca's whelper on Seneca's website. Works just fine. Even made the pigrail out of pvc. Put Aluminum around opening so they don't chew the opening up.

I did the same minus the aluminum. I like the pvc pigrail. I did not use a heat lamp, I use a heating pad. It distributes the heat to the pups and dogs and can be used most of the year because of the thermostat. It does not get too hot on them and will not "scorch" thier hair or cause hot spots. Easy to clean and very efficient. Here is a link to the guy I got mine from.

Is 36x24x24 with actual welping bin 24x24 large enough?

36" heigh? If you use pigrails you won't have quite 24" x 24" and I highly recommend pigrails. I don't like the welping box too tall. Makes it harder for the pups to stay warm.

mike i was thinking about 36" long using 12" of that for a wind break . the reason i was going 24" wide was to two bottoms and two tops out of one piece of plywood i need to build 2 boxes .icould abandon the wind break and just make 36x24 and put a flap over the opening.

I suggest at least 24x36.

Here's one I made 15 years ago, and it is still working fine. The dimensions is 36x42.

How high do you make your pigrails from the bottom of the box? Thanks,
