I know this has been ask a bunch. But what type of wire do you guys use for your flooring, want something that will hold up good and where do you get it. Also what do you use for the kennel sides. I was gonna use welded wire from lowes, does it work, and how long does it last?
thanks

You can order 10 ga. coated galvanized wire (used for lobster traps in salt water) on ebay ranging in price from 1.00 per foot to 7.00 per foot.
I ordered a roll and payed under 1.00 per foot including shipping. I think it came out to .96 per foot, it was enough to build 11 Kennels using my design.

When I built my above ground kennels I used the plastic lattice from lowes for the floor. The holes are 1 1/2" I think. It was easy to cut to size and install. It's held up for three years now with no problems. Easy to clean and got to be easier on the dogs feet.

1X2 cedar slats work best for the flooring just space them 1" apart or the thickness of the slats. Wire will rot out, if for males you'll replace it in 2 years max. Been there done that. Slats are also more comfortable for the hounds feet and body.

For flooring, I used Kenneltuff. made of heavy plastic. 1 inch holes. If you've ever gone into Lowes or Walmart and went into the garden department, they have heavy plastic tables or benches low to the ground that they set plants on. This is somewhat similar to kenneltuff. will last forever and a day. I personally don't like using wood for flooring. it absorbs urine and can be a bacterial breeding ground. (no offense to anyone. just my 2 cents.) I don't know the manufacturer of it. You'll have to google it. It isn't cheap, but is worth every penny. good luck.

My preference is to use wood slat flooring as well... heavily treated with SoyGuard. It's kinda pricey but non-toxic, reasonably abrasion resistant, and (unlike alot of non-toxic sealants) it's ingredients don't act as a base for bacteria, mold or mildew.

This is what I use for my kennel flooring. It comes in 2' X 4' sheets it is about 1/2" thick and inter locks we really like is here and it is easy to clean as well just spray it out and use a Hoe to scrape out the droppings.

The only marking on the flooring is a patten number 4953501 and it says " RED ROOSTER '" Broiler Breeder Chicken Floor.

I still have to go to Feldmans and check with them about the price I dont remember if I get time I will do this tomorrow afternoon and post the info here.

That flooring looks identical to Kenneltuff. There were two different sizes of holes available. the larger hole size was 1.1 inch (odd measurement!). I don't remember what the smaller size was.
Good stuff.
