Hi follow beaglers, My name is Danny and I have just breed my first girl. I am looking for suggestions on how to build a nice whelping pen for her. I would appreciate any and all suggestions as I am new to raising beagles. I know this hunting board has so much experience and i am greatful that I found this forum to help me with all my beagling questions, so please give me any input that you think that would be helpful. Thanks in advance to all. Danny

This is one I built a couple of years ago, maybe it will give you some ideas. I built it completely out of cedar and haven't had to touch it yet.

Piled up under the warming light,an enclosed fixture like in a walkin cooler. I also use a hard plastic heating pad on the floor of it when gets real cold.

Gang has a nice looking set up,and could be built economicaly. Mine is some what like it but made of ply wood and salt treated lumber, with a shingled roof. It has 36x40 play area and a 24x40 box. I use another box that is bigger for the first 2 weeks in my garage. Put mama and pups in the other one for 1 more week and then put pups on soft food after 3 weeks. Gerbers rice cereal water and a little puppy chow to start, until they will go to all moistend puppy chow.

by the way where are you in Va?, I'm from Sutherland Va.

hope this helps,

Bill

I appreciate the advice fellas. I am in Louisa County, Va. Is 24" tall enough for the kennel?
