above ground kennels

I plan to build some above ground kennels. I am planning to use the plastic type floor with the holes in it. Do I need to put a solid section of board for the dog to lay on like they do in kennels with wire floor?

i put 2 foot of deck boards in helps stiffen up the kennel and save on the flooring i build a 3x6 foot run 4 foot of plastic 2 foot of decking hope this helps yeha

Yes that does help. I was thinking of doing something like that but I wasn't sure if I needed to or not.
