Will this be big enough?
I'm building a second kennel. Instead of building wooden boxes like I did last time, this time I was thinking of using half plastic barrels. I was thinking of making a wood floor, then half of a 30 Gal. barrel over it, then insulation and half of a 50 Gal over that. Here's the problem, I cut the 30 Gal. barrel in half, and it's now 14" inside height with a 17" diameter. So I would have a 14" ceiling with a 17" in diameter floor, do you think this will be big enough for a 14" hound?

I use the 35 gallon size with a removable end and have it placed inside of a 55gal. with wood blocks between to keep the inner barrel centered in the outer.. This will create a 1" airspace between the barrels... I keep two dogs in each barrel but do have one that stays by himself.. It's not extremely cold here during the winter but all dogs seem to stay warm.. Most of them seem to want to scratch all of the bedding out of the barrel which seems odd but who knows what goes through those mutts minds..
One samll thing to do if using barrels is drill 3 or 4 3/8" holes in the lowest point of the barrel to let any moisture that may get drain out ...

i use 55 gallon barrels cut, i put a plywood floor in the barrel so if any moister gets in the barrel it goes under the floor where i have placed 5 3/8 '' holes for it to drain,,,,,,in the winter time i wrap them with insulation then wrap with a heavy plastic,,,,,,,
