Kenneling Beagles?

Post by Briarhoppers »

We haven't had a Poll in a while and thought I'd like to see what method of "kenneling" y'all use. I know the benefits of above ground vs. concrete vs. pea gravel, etc. have been previously discussed - so just looking to see what is the most popular method. :D
Thanks,
Pete

above ground for me...i had my dogs on the dirt but hated how miserable they looked when it rained so i got some ideas and recruited my dad for an extra pair of hands and built my new above ground kennel and i love them. so much cleaner smells better dogs look better and stay dry...keith

I voted above-ground since I couldnt vote twice as I like concrete runs too. I have both and like them both, but if I had to choose just one, I would go with the above-ground runs.

I am using pea gravel kennels. They are not a perfect solution, but I like them for the most part. The key is to keep the gravel deep - at least 4-5 inches. I currently have two 8x12 pens and a 40x45 pen.

174 views and only 31 votes? Let's all vote on this one so that the results are a good representation of what is being used. :D If you are using more than one method - pick the one you prefer.
THanks!

I keep my hounds on the dirt and the only reason I do is because the price of concrete is so high. If I would ever have the money I would build a concrete kennel.

i switched to concrete about 3 years ago. had above ground pens before and was pretty happy with them, but concret is much easier to keep clean and disinfect.

Above ground kennels with the right flooring is the healthyest way to keep Beagles. Concrete is hard on there joints.

kennels

I'v tried all 4 choises and I like concrete the best. Easier to keep clean. I do still have above ground to raise my pups in.

Aboveground

I think Above ground is the best, in the area where i live we have to many preditors to leave a hound on the ground. Wolfs, Fisher, Bobcat etc. Plus we get alot of snow. The kennels keep them out of the mess.
