pen
trey,
It depends on a lot of things. I recently built a starting pen for about $1,300. It is 4 acres. I've got 3 wood posts at every corner with a half post as a spacer. My metal posts are every 15-20 ft. depending on terrain. Very uneven! I also used the 20 ga. vinyl coated wire, 5ft tall with 12" bend under. I used 3 strands of high tensile between the posts, and several boxes of hog rings. Also a gate, wire ratchet, and 3 friends!
As far as running, i've got med/fast beagles, high end progressive type. There are 2 rabbits in the pen and it is thick! A dog will spend anywhere from 20 min-90 min. hunting for a bunny. I let them run him for a while but if they start running over the same area a couple times i pull the dog out. It's mainly for pups, but the big dogs can stretch their legs too if you monitor the situation. I think a dog could get messed up if allowed to run bunnies in an overstocked enclosure.
Hope this helps,
