Starting Pens

Post by Hippy »

Just getting back into Beagles and wonder what your thoughts are on Starting Pens.? Twenty years ago they had just got there start , at least in Virginia, and the only two pups I put in the pen started within a few hours. The way we did it then was once the Dogs started on a good chase we did not allow them to run in the pen very long, this was a small 2 acre pen,and did not want them killing Rabbits.
I have seen where some have 5 acre pens and will board your Pup for so long is this a better way?
Sorry for soooooooo many questions I just want to do it right.
Thanx,
Jim

It really all depends on the person doing the training. Ask the "locals"... there's a fair number on here from your area. So just ask around and see who people talk about most. The price usually ranges from 50 to 100 per dog and in my personal experience is money well spent.
