3 Year Old Beagle--TOO OLD for 9 year old girl?

Post by RD92254 »

My 9 year old wants a Beagle...
I have the opportunity to get, free, a 3 year old Beagle.
Is this too old of a dog for a young girl?
Is the three year old already too set in it's ways, or will it adapt to her?
Let me know anything you can on this, as I have to know within a couple of days...
Thanks, in advance...
Rick

Male or female? Is it house broken? Is it used to children? Has it been kenneled outside all of it's life or kept around people? Beagles love attention. Most beagles love children in particular. Best scinerio, female kept inside around other children. Worst scinerio, stubborn male kept outside with little contact with people. (my humble opinion). Good Luck

Too old for new tricks...a bunch of balogne. Assuming this dog doesn't have any vices already regarding children there should be no problem. I recently picked up a 2.5 year old outdoor female which received next to no attention whatsoever. Three weeks and alot of love later, she is housebroken and probably the best hunter i've had not to mention a great pet for my 3 and 5 year old kids. This is not the first beagle i've moved indoors late in life. No finer breed. Hope this helps
