rabbi shot ?'s

Post by Keystone Kid »

I live in Indiana and Indiana is one of those states were you can't give rabbi shots to you dogs without going to the vet. I have plenty of places to order rabbi vaccines, but they won’t ship rabbi shots to Indiana. I have friends in other states I can have them shipped to and then get the shots from them at a later time, but this is very inconvenient.

Does anyone know of a company that will ship to my state?

Does anyone have any other suggestions how I might get rabbi shots so I could give them to my dogs on my own without going through the vet?

K Kid, Here in PA. it is also a state law that all dogs have rabbies shots. It is easy to get the vaccine and do it yourself but you can only get the "official certificate" that your dog has had the shot from a licenced vet.And if the warden comes looking for proof of rabbies shots, the only thing he will accept as proof is the "CERTIFICATE ! " So I have finally gave in and get mine updated as required but I still think it's a racket..lol.. CHH

RABIES SHOTS

HERE IN SWITZERLAND CO. IND. OUR VET COMES AROUND EVERY YEAR
( I THINK ) IN APRIL TO CERTAIN SPOTS AROUND THE COUNTY. HE GIVES THE SHOTS AT A REDUCED RATE, BUT YOU HAVE TO GO TO HIM.
YOU CAN ALSO ASK ANY QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO YOUR DOGS OR MAKE APPOINTMENTS TO SEE HIM IN HIS OFFICE IF YOU NEED TO. IT IS PRETTY CONVIENT BECAUSE HE STOPS CLOSE BY. WORKS FOR ME.

Another thing to consider is that if you are in a state where rabies vaccination must be done by a licensed veterinarian, then doing it yourself doesn't count legally. The dog may be protected just fine from rabies, but if it bites someone and it hasn't been vaccinated by a veterinarian then the county canrequire it be destroyed and the brain tested for rabies.

In Georgia you can not have the shot shipped to you, and you have to have the cetificate. I just take mine to the vet or the local feed store has a vet come around twice a year to give the shot. It is fairly cheap and worth the run in with the animal contral.
