Just wanted to get some feed back if anyone knows why this happens? It may not happen all the time but every now and then I got a female that will come out a race or stop hunting and run around the woods like she has seen a Ghost or she's possesed ! She will bark and howl and whimper like something is after her. I didnt know if it was a sugar fit or what? Then give her a minute or two and she goes back hunting the rest of the day. Any ideas?

I know a guy that after he broke his dog on deer it would growl on deer tracks.

Grandslam, I've got a female that does the same thing. At first i thought the shock collar had a short and was shocking her. But after i took the collar off she continued running around barking in circles. Then i caught her and calmed her down, then she was fine. I chalked it up as a siezure as she has a family history of siezures. She's 3 yrs old and that was the first time she acted that way.

Thanks for comments I guess i will chalk it up to a minor seizure.

I had one that would do that and I was told his sugar might be getting low after a few hours of hard hunting and running so I would feed him a piece of honey bun every hour or so and I didn't have any more problems with it and the fellow that owns him now still does the same thing with no problems.

Grandslam I have a male that started doing the same thing, he will quit the chase come back howling and act crazy.He is the last dog I would ever think of leaving a race.Im going to take him to the vet for a check up and blood tests.Al

ive got a female that done this for awhile. she had 4-5 episodes at 2 yrs old and hasnt had another one since. i thought the same thing that the shocking collar was shorting out or something but she would come running up to me screaming and howling. only thing was after she had one she was done for the day.... so far she hasnt had one in two years so i dont know what it was. i figured mild seizure too after i ruled out the shocking collars. i definitely felt bad i couldnt do anything for her at the time... i had never seen anything like it lol...

Wells guys think I might have got it figured out. After listening to the low sugar theory, I started giving the two dogs that was doing the crazy behavior an oatmeal pie when I load them up to go hunting. Give half then and the other half later after 5 or so chases. It hasn't happened since I started this and I was having an episode everyday we hunted. So hope this helps the next beagler.
