With the little information provided, it could be a few things. However, in my opinion, I would try to determine a little better what symptoms your dog is having, and eleiminate the source of before proper treatment can be made. It should be diagnosed properly first before acting or treating appropriately. Look for swelling, redness, puss, is this an isolated problem only, weight gain or loss, activity level, etc. Have you changed anything in the dogs normal routine,...food, bedding, area in which you run the dog maybe. All these things play a vital role in pinpointing the problem. This is info. your vet will ask as well. I would suggest going and obtaining a skin scraping from a vet. It might be the heat, an allergy, mites, etc. With a skin scraping, it will help eliminate the possible sorurces or cause of. There are things I could suggest doing as I'm sure there are others out there as well, but with the information provided, it's really hard to tell, so I would have to say take the dog to the vet to be sure.
