May be fleas and a flea allergy. I am sure you aren't seeing any signs of fleas on her as dogs with flea allergies usually appear to be flea free...no flea dropping in the fur and no fleas on them as they are constantly licking and itching and removing the evidence. I have one that is allergic to fleas and after we moved we discovered our area is aweful for fleas. Took us a while to figure out the problem as he had NO fleas or flea droppings on him.

Has this dog been around or come in contact with fiberglass insulation?

How long have you had this dog. I have racked my brain trying to think what could be going on.
Maybe a type of demodectic mange. Localized demodectic mange occurs in pups but older hound have generalized demodectic mange. They develop patches of hair loss on the head, legs, and trunk. It occurs spontaneously on older dogs. Get a vet to do a skin scrapings and that could tell you alot. That doesn't cost too much. A lowered immune system could bring this on. Let us know what you figure out.

kennel dip seems to have worked ,i suppose the fur will take time to grow back ,but the symptoms have stopped. must have been mites.ran her yesterday and she's fine. thanks for the replies.
