Benedryl is exactly what I would have done as this sounds like some sort of allergic reaction to something. Weird. Hope he's ok!

i had a dog bit the 2nd week of nov., 2nd day of deer gun season , it was a warm nov. day but never thought a copperhead would been out. Then a week later i was moving a pile of brush in my rabbit lot and found a small water snake, he was slow moving but still not in the ground. Not saying it was a snake bit he got but you may be surprised.

sounds like he stuck a stick in mouth, could have broken off like a splinter.

Any word on what the vet said? I'm curious how it turned out.

have seen that done before with our walker hounds. main reason i keep ant-inflammatory med's at house all times. if i even think they have been bitten or whatever i can help reduce the pain/swelling from hounds overnight. good job on watching out for your hound, alot of hunters never know there is a problem and until it is to late. if a hound does not eat you better check him close, there is problems somewhere.
