I have a pup almost a year old with red spotty skin and hair loss. Mainly on the underside and legs and paws.

I would have a blood check ---might be a THYROID problem

Get a tube of Nu-Stock and see if that helps any.

Not to be negative, but sounds like major trouble to me. Every dog Ive had like this gets it over and over.

I've got one to it seems like it only get on my tri-color dogs my blueticks has not had it and one of my blueticks is in the same pin as the one tri-color thats got it. I put happy jack kennel dip on it and it usually clears it up in about a week.

It sounds like demodectic (red) mange to me, I've experienced this in the past.

i agree with beagler, sounds like red mange to me...Nu-stock will help or cure it. it is great stuff, but us gloves when us apply it. it is mostly sulfur and will stink up ur hands for quite some time.

What are you feeding?

If your dog's getting it "over and over" again, it could be a simple reaction to eating cheap corn-based kibble (or wheat-based).

Many dogs have all kinds of "disorders" for no other reason than they're being fed dog kibble. You may not believe this, but kibble is not what a dog is supposed to eat (especially if the main ingredient is corn or wheat). Too many owners feed these cheap concoctions, never realizing that they are the ones causing their own dogs problems by the very food they're feeding them.

Feeding a dog corn or wheat is like feeding a cow hamburger: it's inappropriate for the species.

Therefore, my first suggestion is to take a really good, hard look at what you're feeding and be honest with yourself: is it a cheap, low-grade kibble?

I'd bet dollars to donuts that it is, and that's your problem.

Never seen a dog fed an optimal raw diet suffer from these maladies, but I have seen oodles of kibble-fed dogs break down (young and old), simply by being fed something that they weren't ever designed to eat. Even demodex (a proliferation of the mange mite) is caused by a lowered immune system, which is itself often caused by being fed an inappropriate diet.
