Whip Worms

Post by BJK »

Doc S,

I almost lost a veteran Beagle to Whip Worms recently. The Vet prescribed Drontal and he is recovering well.

My question is, what is a good over the counter med and dosage for these worms. I've heard some say Panacur and or Safeguard. I think both contain Fenbendazole as the active ingredient. Are they reliable, if so what is the worming schedule and dosage? Thanks,

Nate, BJK

i believe fenbendazole is the wormer of choice for whips. every 2 months i do a 3 day dose of safegard and since then i have not had any whips. for awhile, a couple of my dogs struggled with them. this has been over 4 years now.
