Depending on who you talk to, you can count either 63 or 64 days from the breeding until the pups come out. If you can remember the date of the breeding, then you should be able to figure out when they will come. All females will bag out somewhere along the pregnancy line, but it is difficult to say a delivery date based on that criteria. Use the 63 or 64 day count and you should be right on.

Hope this helps...

dog breeding

Are you 100% sure she is bred? Some gyps will bag up and aren't even having pups. But if you are sure she is bred it is still hard to tell. Some gyps milk two weeks before some not even a week. It is hard to tell.

Watch for her to start nesting, the last two weeks the milk bars will fill and the pups will drop or be let down(you will see she is carring them lower). After that, it's a matter of taking her temp. to see when it drops to 98 deg's, pups are coming!!!(normal temp. is 102). We've had them drop to 99-100 deg's for 3 days before it got to 98, but then they came. Most will go off the feed the day before or the day of welping.

Best of luck with your pups...Patch

The other thing to consider is a pseudo pregnancy. This is where she will bag out and produce milk while not being pregnant. This has been talked about before, so if you do a search for it, you will find all the particulars on it. There are some complications regarding this that you need to be on the watch for... However, my female has had this 3 times and never had any of the complications... Once she has this pseudo pregnancy, there is a 75% chance of it re-occuring.
