third eye lid
I have this male bluetick hound that is looking like he is rolling his eyes in the back of his head. I have been putting some solution in his eyes. One eye seems to do it worse than the other. What should I do. I hope he doesn't go blind. I wonder if it could be a genetic thing, or just an infection from the saw dust and hay. but the two beagles in the same pen with him are not like that at all. All help is appreciated
Hi Smoke,
We use a eye wash in a squeeze bottle with a hole in the cap to flush out the eyes, then put a salve in each to clear it up. Most of the time this will float the object out of the eye.
The hound may be having a reaction to the bedding but may also have another problem called a "loose lower eye lid'. When we had coon hounds, some of them had this problem. The lower eyelid gapped away from the eye or hung loose and low, allowing lots of little things to get in eyes. This is genetic in nature.
Hope your hound get better...Patch
