What do you use to clean out dogs ears? Is a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide to water acceptable? Or is there something else that is better suited?
Thanks,
Emery

Cleaning out the ears
Be ye kind one unto another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
Emery, I use OtiClens (it's cheap, but effective) available at any pet, feed store, etc. A couple of squirts deep in the ear, rub the ears around a little and let them sling out the excess. Then I go back a few minutes later when it's had time to soften the gunk and clean it out. I use a soft cloth or cotton ball and use my finger (as far down as it will reach) You can use a large Q-tip if you have a dog that doesn't struggle. Most of mine tolerate an ear cleaning better than they do a toenail trim.
Speaking of, I have a tip for those of you that have dogs that struggle during a toenail trim. Have someone else literally pick the dog up and hold him (legs dangling) and then it's easy to go paw-to-paw and trim the nails. Plus, you can see better what you're doing.

I use a shoulder harness and a contraption much like you see in a grooming salon where the lead comes down from above.Bev wrote:Emery, I use OtiClens (it's cheap, but effective) available at any pet, feed store, etc. A couple of squirts deep in the ear, rub the ears around a little and let them sling out the excess. I hate trimming nails!!!
I thought maybe it was me glad to know other people have trouble with nail trimming.I keep them clipped so the hounds don't get a torn nail when running.Of course my hounds have mostly black nails! One of my males keeps his nose right by the offending hand when I'm trimming growling very low talk about pressure!!!
