Hey doc.
I have a 9m old female, and I thought that she was in heat but I guess that she was not when she was about 7m but here the other day I went out there and my male dog was doing his thing, she started barking and I jumped in the pen and he come off her. I checked her and she was surely in so I took her to the vet and gave her a shot, but any ways I don't knoe how far she is in but, I seperated them last night but I went out ther this morning and he was in there with her again! but they was asleep. So I took him to my friends house so now he will not get to her.
Is that unusual for them to come in and then go out and then in 2 months come back in.

Smoke,
There is something called split heat that can occur. This is when the heat appears to be split into two seperate cycles. The first which is false the bitch attracts the male and develops vulvar swelling and bleeding typical of proestrus. She goes out of heat without becoming receptive.
A second heat cycle occurs two to ten weeks later. It proceeds into standing heat.
According to this home vet handbook, It typically occurs in young females. It is caused by lack of pituitary output of LH. It does not rise and the ovaries do not produce ovulatory follicles and serum progesterone remaines low. Says most cases no treatment is required. Should be normal next heat.
Good luck to you!
