I just had a litter of puppies 1/5/09. One of them has a lump on it's stomach around the rib cage. Anybody had this happen before. It is about the size of a quarter and sticks out an inch or so
Thanks

Does it seem to be a protrusion of the internal organs (hernia), a hard knot (tumor like), or a fluid filled sac? Please give a more detailed description or post a picture if you can. Have you seen umbilical hernias before?

I checked her today and it had busted open. I'll try to post a picture. Seem like it might be some kind of fluid because it's about half the size. She does have an open sore where it busted

No they are in a plastic dog house. The lump was on the inside of the skin now that outside skin dried up and the lump opened up. It's a lot smaller now and the mom was cleaning it. Did not know if I should put something on it where it opened up

If the Mom is cleaning it, just keep and eye on it. Anything you put on it, Mom will just lick off. It should heal fine.
