Thats a hard one, call a vet and ask. They may not tell you but its worth a try. She may have passed them to the pups also.

I don't know alot of details, but was told you can do it yourself. The dog needs to be confined in a small are to limit activity (no bigger than necessary), Given Ivermec every day for 30 days. Same basic thing the vet will do without the $$$$$ vet bill. I am not responsible if this does not work, just trying to help.

My lab was suppose to have heartworms about a year ago when i took him to the vet, she wanted to do those treatments but due to the money and i didnt like the fact that he had to be confined and locked up for so long and he is such a outgoing dog with lots of energy, I didnt do the treatments. She put him on Iverhart Max (It has Ivermectin/pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel in it) I gave it to him once a month for a year, when I took him back for his yearly appointment she rechecked him and said he doesnt have heartworms now??????? I thought once they get heart worms they always have them??? So i dont know if she just missed read the 1st test or the Iverhart MAX helped him. So maybe you can check on the Iverhart Max and give it once a month. Im not a vet but this is the experience Ive been through! Good Luck
