1 1/2 year old still no heat.

Doc,
I have a year and a half female that has not ever had a heat. I got her at six months old and have had her for over a year. For the longest I felt lucky because it gave me time to keep her in the field but know i am starting to worry. What would cause this?

Will - It's normal for some lines of hounds to not come in for that long - I have one that didn't come in for 16 months and then didn't come back in for a year. I have a full litter mate sister from a seperate breeding that is 14 months now and still no heat - My luck is hunting season just came in and she'll come in any day now.

Will, I had a female that didn't come in heat until she was 22 months old. She add a litter of pups and started cycling every 6 -7 months.

Thanks guys.
WIth my luck she will come in any day know and I will loose her for the rest of the hunting season. Or I will trial her after the season get her qualified for the world and then she will come in right before the world. lol I appreciate the words of encourage ment.
