Throwing up

I have a three year old male (Rooster, He's on my web site) that has started throwing up his food every couple of days. I feed Purina dog chow. ( He's been on it his whole life) I feed him 2/3 of a cup every morning and 2/3 of a cup every night and have been doing this for over a year. There is no set pattern, other than it happens relatively soon after eating. (it's not digested yet). It started out about once a week. Now it's every couple of days. He is an over active dog in the kennel if this helps.

Any help would be appreciated.

Could be he's eating to fast. Does he eat it again when he throws it up? Put some round rocks that he can't swallow in his bowl before putting the food in. That way he has to eat around the rocks which will slow him down. Another way is to feed him on a cookie sheet. If that doens't work you can rule that out.

Hope that helps...

Eating too fast may be it. He's off the ground so re-eating is not an option. His energy and weight are good. Everything else is normal.

I have a Rottweiler that does that but he will turn around and eat it again and he is a fast eater. I put him on an automatic feeder and he still does it some times but not all time.

If he keeps it up you might want to take him to the vet. I had an older dog who had those symptoms and he had pancreatitis. Hope yours gets over it, good luck :D

He hasn't done it in three days. He's healthy as a horse. I guess he just eats too fast sometimes. I'll keep an eye on him though. He's my best huntin' dog.

Amazing what a little yogut will do. He's all better.
