Is it safe, what rate, tell me more! They were selling safegaurd horse wormer and I would like to know how to use it on puppies and dogs. At the hunt I was at they weren't sure the amount to use but told me many use it for dog wormer.

If it is the safe guard that comes in tubes, that is paiste. It is a 1/4 turn of the ring per 4 pounds of dog. There for and adult dog weighing 20 pounds would get 1 1/4 turns of paiste. I squirt it in hotdogs. Hope this helps.

Lance's dose is right, but the paste is hard to dose correctly so I always use liquid Panacur. Dose for it is 1 ml per 5# of bodyweight for 3 days in a row. Doc S

Doc,

I have heard so many varying stories about what parasites Safe-Guard will remove that I cannot remember them all!!

My main question is will Safe-Guard, administered 3 consecutive days, rid a beagle of tapeworms???

I have heard it will, and I have heard no it wont.

I have used Safe-Guard for a few years now and my hounds annual vet-check up always come back worm-free... :!:

Three days of Safegard or Panacur will rid a dog of rounds, hooks and whips as well as about half the species of tapeworms. Doc S
