I have a 14 month old female that has a wart on her top lip and one right under it on her bottom lip. The one on the top is about as big as a large grape. It sure is ugly. This is not hingering eating but i wonder if it is hitting weeds when she is hunting. I was told by some it would drop off but im getting tired of waiting. pllease suggest somethin...

I had a dog that had warts like you described and took it to the vet it recomended using a wart remover that you can get at a pharmacy like Compound W.

Don't sweat it at all. We have a pup from the YBC that had a ton of warts. I searched all over what to do and always came back to the same answer. They are puppy warts and will fall off on their own in time. This pups took 4 weeks and they are all off.

We had a bout with them on our dogs a few years ago. A few of them barely had any, but one of mine had hundreds of little ones in his cheek and roof of his mouth. He had most of them removed surgically, but they came back. I eventually was worried about them causing problems in his throat, so we had another removal procedure. After that, the rest of them went away naturally.

Warts are tricky because the body doesn't always know to attack them. It's my understanding that the way to stimulate an immune response from the body is to attack one of them yourself. Be careful with the over-the-counter stuff around the mouth. You don't want that stuff coming into contact with their lips. I'd treat the one under the bottom lip and make sure the meds only touch the wart. Once the meds start taking effect, your body should attack it and the other wart.

I took her to the vet last night. When the vet walked in she remarked that she had not seen warts like that except on a cow. The vet left the room for a few minutes that i suspect she went to read some info. I think i was more educated than she by merely reading the info on the internet using keyword ..dog warts.. I spent 25 dollars for her to tell me she could cut them off for about 75 dollars. I think ill try to wait them out even thou they look so ugly..thanks for the help folks..

Knock on wood, have never had warts in my kennel, but would wait them out if I did. Doc S
