rabies shots

I took my dogs, six beagles and my son;s yellow lab in for the rabies shots last week. And one of my beagles has gotton very, very ill. Went off his food for one day, than nibbled for two-three days. Passing blood in his stools, loose and now diahrea. His eyes are real glassy and he stays in his dog house, i called my vet yesterday (sunday) I am taking him in today, has anyone ever had this happen??? He was fine before he had his shot. I dont get it.

Some dogs have an allergic reaction to the rabies shots and this maybe what was going on with your dog, also you could have had an adverse reaction with your dog if the parvo distemper shot was given at the same time. In all the studies I have read the rabies vaccine should not be given with in 30 days before or after the parvo distemper shots for the same reason.

Thanks, He didnt have any shots prior to 30 days before the rabies vaccine. But my vet thinks it was not from the vaccine now. He thinks he had something attacking his immune system. He put him on IV'S and antibiodics, and is improving. Thanks
