Bronchitis

Post by Guest »

Doc,
I had a dog diagnosed with bronchitis. The vet said it is contagiuos - not to let the other dogs eat or drink after her. How contagious is it? Would other dogs riding in a box with her prior to the diagnosis, or after, contract the disease? Would other dogs running with her be affected? Is bronchitis the same as kennel cough? Should she be kept penned up for a while? She lost her appetite with this. I now have another dog with a cough, but his appetite has not been affected. Do bronchitis and kennel cough clear up without antibiotic intervention? How long would it take?

Thanks.

Infectious tracheobronchitis and kennel cough are indeed the same thing. It is HIGHLY contagious to any dogs near her. It CAN, but not always, clear up without antibiotics in about two weeks. She should be rested while she is sick. Doc S
