need antibiotic advise

Could anyone tell me what is a good antibiotic that I can get off the shelf from tractor supply or some place simular. One of my hounds got a cut while hunting today through the hide. I closed up the hole and used a topical antibiotic. I think it also needs an oral antibiotic as well. A sugestions would be appreciated.

fishmox or a similar Fish Amoxicillin.

unless you see active infection I would not put them on antibiotic empericaly. keep the wound clean cleanse with dial soap and water. if you see sign of infection cephlaxin would be my first choice. amoxicillin not a good choice poor anerobic action. Not much over the counter options. Penicillin would have questionable coverage.
Could just buck up and pay for the office vist to the vet.
