This dog is owned by a friend. It is a 7 mos female. On Friday she was playing with his other dogs and maybe some rough playing like puppies do. When he fed her Friday afternoon she was just laying in the box and shaking. Since Friday they have had her in the house and to the vet on Friday evening. She can't stand up and doesn't try to. She can move her legs like she is stretching, but that is it, she doesn't move her tail even when petting her. She can move her head around and will wimper/whine but no barking. They have give her water with a syringe and she ate food thru last night, but none today. If she got whacked by the other dogs while playing and is paralized from the neck down, has anybody heard of a dog recovering? His vet has talked to him about doing surgery to see what is wrong and then adopting the dog out and he won't have to pay the bill and he his also thinking of having the dog put to sleep so it is not suffering. She has been out running this past week, so you never know if she ate something. He doesn't let his dogs jump off the tailgate, that is why we are wondering if she got to playing to rough. Thanks for any info.

Check her for ticks. If it is from a spinal injury, she may recover and she may not - only time will tell. I would not give up too quickly as long as she is alert and does not appear to be in much distress. The only one I ever had with those symptoms had had several seizures that apparently brought on the paralysis. Best wishes for a full recovery!

Another thing that will cause peralysis in dogs is nuts, if your dog has gotten into some nuts usually like the macadamia nuts this can cause peralysis, around the holidays nuts are often around and people don't think about it.
