About twice a week, I clean my dogs ears using dog ear cleaner and cotton balls. On a recent visit to the vet, he noticed that 2 of my dogs had a mysterious items deep in the ear canal. He sedated the dogs and flushed out the ears. What he found was what appeared to be fescue seeds or a wheat shaft type of seed. Other then twice weekly cleanings, what can be done to prevent this from happening in future?

I don't know the technique you use in cleaning with "cleaner and cotton" but the simplest and most efficient way that I have found is a syringe and a solution of 25% white vinager 75% water. Inject, then massage for a minute or two. Allow the dog to shake the water and junk out. This is the way I take care of mites.......It works for me.....Russ
