Beagle Pain Syndrome

My two year old was recently diagnosed with Beagle Pain Syndrome. If you do not know about this disease, it is basically serious inflamation of the joints with severe pain. My dog had symptoms in her hind quarters. Other will find swelling near the neck more commonly, but any joints can be affected. I was told there is no cure, only meds to control the inflamation. My dog is on prednisone currently, and she seems to be doing much better. My vet was very proactive when I took her in. She was not eating, moving up or down steps. had a hard time sitting or getting up, and had NO interest in running rabbits! At time she would even quiver in pain. It was very sad and frustrating to see her like this. My vet tested her for numerous tick-born diseases, took xrays, did various blood tests, and concluded she has BPS. Has anyone had experiences with this? It is also called polyarteritis (sp?).

I don't have any personal experience with it but, you might try to Glycoflex supplement. The main ingredient is green Lipped mussel (Perna mussel) and Glucosomine.

my four year old has something similar to this. vet said it was basically like a sprained joint. put him on rimidal as needed. seemed to work real well, and not overly priced.
