I got the pup and is 7 weeks old and has tape worms. Also have him housed with 2 other pups, how contagious are the tapeworms, can my 2 other pups get them from the infected pup?
any info would be greatly appreciated , please include product and dosage if you could.

I would first check your dogs for fleas. Tapeworms are transmitted through eating fleas? Are you sure it's tapeworms?

I recommend Drontal Plus, you can get it for 5.49 a pill at http://www.petmeds.com but they contact your vet, so I'd call the vets office first! I'm not sure if the dog have to be a certain age before giving them drontal plus or not?...

It's also good for hookworms, and whipworms.

You can get SafeGuard at Tractor Supply Co. comes in Goat Bottle. $15 approx.

I get Panacur from Vets office. Liquid. Had some vets say the liquid doesnt get everything and others claim it does. Used Granular before and Liquid really have had good results with Both.

Safegaurd will not kill tapes. It will kill the others but not tapes . I have a friend who is a vet and he told me that praziquantel is what will kill all tapes. You can get pills at tsc that have praziquantel. I believe canine all wormer has praz. too

Praziquantel is the active ingredient in drontal, droncet, and about all tapeworm meds.

Just find which one you can get the cheapest for the dosage you need.
You buy some without prescription from 1-800-pet-meds.
Drontal and others are supposed to have prescription.

If you are seeing actual tapeworms, you will have to treat again in 2 weeks. If you have an infestation like that, one treatment will not get them all.

If he just has tapes and you have only one dog, I would go with the Equimax - about 4/10 CC - one dose now and a follow-up in three weeks to get any new larvae. As previously advised, GET THE FLEAS off FIRST and keep them off! If you have a number of dogs, you may want to go to Ebay and search for generic Drontal Plus. Paratak will be the cheapest and canine allwormer is also good.
