Doc

i've just breed my female 30 days ago and was wondering how long will it be before i will be noticing her getting alot bigger and what is some of the signs i can expect very soon before i need to take her to the vet to make sure she stuck.

Thanks again

Donnie, sometimes Doc doesn't get to the computer until the weekends, but I'm sure he'll see your question. Meanwhile I and a few others can tell you our experiences.

I really start noticing a difference in the bitches girth around 3 weeks before whelp date. You should start seeing the belly expand in another week. A vet would be able to palpitate puppies by then. One of the first signs I notice is the hair will thin or fall out around the nipples (clearing the way for pups). Good luck!

Bev i've noticed the hair around the nipples starting to thin, but not much difference in the girth. She was put with the male for 2 wks and today will be the 30 day mark, so i should be seeing alot of size change by now.

Also Bev i've run her some on cool mornings and evenings is this a good idea and at what time should i stop? She has only been run twice sense she has been breed.

Thanks
Donnie

Not necessarily. First time mamas don't seem to balloon out until the last two weeks. You just go out there one day and BOOM, they're huge, lol! Overnight, it seems.

On the running thing, everyone is different, but I stop hard running at 6 weeks (3 weeks before whelp date) and limit to yard exercise. A lot depends on the bitch's conditioning. If she hasn't been run hard, I wouldn't start now. A good stretch in the yard each day to keep her limbered up is sufficient. Also, watch her portions - make them normal for now. A fat mama has a hard time whelping. The time to pour the coal on is when she's nursing.

Donnie.
Go to http://www.powerscourt-cockers.com/Preg ... lender.htm
Plug in the sire and dams name, and the first date of mating. It will give you a calender you can print out with some really good information on what to expect as it is happening week to week. I found this information to be quite useful especially the first time around. Good luck.
