1 year old dog really not eating well and falling off over the last 2 weeks or so.

Anyways, he really isn't eating enough and is really lethargic. Plus his weight is falling off.

I was wondering if B12 could possibliy help him pick him up...

Has anyone given B12, if so, what were your results? How much did you give? How often?

Thanks in advance...
Jack

jack you might try using some red cell it has all the vitamins n nutrients known to mankind im using it right now on a young dog im trying to get started for a friend of mine i just pour a little over his feed probalyapeox. a ounce it works on perking a dog up n increasing their appetite if the dog dont get any better ya just might have to get a vet to check him ive talked to several fox hunters about b12 some of them use it to build stamina but also it will wreck their nervous system i have seen fox hounds just shake n tremble like they were ready to go into DT's hope this helps, i use to use b12 when i faught roosters i would 1/4 cc 24 hours before fight time it will perk a dog up jb

B-12 will stimulate the apetite.
However, there is something wrong because the dog is not eating.
I assume that you have blown the dog out with wormer, inclusing tapewormer.

I have seen worms really take there toll on dogs, especially tapes.

Also I have seen mites take dogs down, even adults where the coats were poor and they didn't hold weight.

Could be a lot of things, that is what you need to figure out.

My neighbor always doctors mine so I had to call him for the dosage.
He said he uses about 1cc injected, but the easiest thing to do is give nutri-cal or multi-cal to the dog.
There are a lot of oral additives that are loaded with B-12, plus those have simple sugars that hit the blood stream quickly to make the dog feel better temporarily.

Are there any other symptoms other than him not eating and getting poor?
I have dogs get sick and never found out what was wrong. A shot of penecillin and B-12 cleared it up after a couple of days.
Just need to make sure it is not something like worms or other.

I would check the dog's teeth and throat also.
Is the mucus thick and white, are the gums pale?
Feel his lymph nodes, if it is infection they should be swollen and hard (easy to detect).
Infection can be treated with penicillin.

DAWG IT COULD BE A LOT OF THINGS BUT SOUNDS LIKE IT MIGHT BE TAPE WORMS THEY CUT OFF THE INTESTINES SO THE DOG WONT WANT TO EAT AND THEY LOSE WEIGHT ,GOOD LUCK ,FASTEDDY

I use b-12 on a normal basis with my old dogs,it works real well as a pick me up.The recommended dose is 0.5 cc per 20 lbs but in bad cases 1cc is ok.Redcell and nutrical are vitamin supplements and will at least help keep the dog alive until you find the problem.I agree with the other replys it sounds like a tape worm.Hope this helps.
