Salt

Has anyone used salt for their beagles? I have one that can retain water I have been salting his food and he is fine know. Noticed when temps got above 50 degrees. I am thinking about placing salt blocks in kennels. Any comments? Pros or Cons. Looking for backup if anyone has ever encountered this.

Salt makes the body retain water. I would think that putting a salt block in the kennel would only amplify your problem.

I've read the same thing in some "health and fitness" articles - salt causes water retention.

Sorry I had a typo. The dog was not retaining water. He appeared dehydrated quick. Wondering if anyone has heard of dangers of giving salt.
