Hey folks,
In response to the above post, I've been collecting research on Spotton. It's made by Bayer. They make Spotton for dogs and cats. It has the same active ingredient as the cattle Spotton (Fenthion 20%). However they do not advise it for the use in controlling ticks. It is a good control agent for fleas. They suggest other products for tick control. I've answered my own question. If anyone has any other results please post. Below is a copy of an email I received from Bayer.

Dear Nate
Please note that Bayopet Spotton is only registered for flea control on cats and dogs. Should you have a tick problem we recommend Bayopet Bacdip Plus (for dogs) - also available through retail outlets.
Kind regards
